FAQs
What ages do you work with?
Our outpatient program works with ages 13 to 25; our day program works with ages 15 to 25.
What is the process for getting started?
The first step is scheduling a free 30 minute consultation with a member of our team.
What is DBT?
Great question! We’re so glad you asked! Please see our “What is DBT?” page for more info.
What does DBT Works specialize in?
DBT is the gold standard treatment approach for emotion dysregulation. Emotion dysregulation can include suicidality, self-harm, impulsivity, relationship difficulties, depression, unstable sense of self, post traumatic stress, and anxiety. Many of our clients also have ADHD, autism, or social pragmatic difficulties.
Do you use approaches other than DBT?
We're all DBT, all the time. However, we do offer select adjunctive services to support clients needing related treatment. We offer DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) for trauma, as well as exposure with response prevention (ERP) for anxiety and OCD. For parents of younger children with behavioral concerns, we offer Parent Management Training (PMT) and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) for anxiety.
How do I know if I should do the Comprehensive Outpatient Program or Day Program?
Great question! We would love to get to know you better before determining which program may be the best fit. Schedule a free 30 minute consultation with a member of our team so we can learn more about your specific needs and make a recommendation accordingly.
How long will I be in treatment?
The day program is typically 4 to 8 weeks, whereas the outpatient program is about 6-12 months.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Our programs are in-person. We do not offer virtual programs at this time.
I'm interested in DBT, but I'm not sure I need a whole program. Do you offer DBT-informed services?
At this time, we do not have availability for DBT-informed services.
How much does treatment cost?
The cost of treatment is based on which services you’re seeking and which team member is best suited to help with your unique needs. You are entitled to a good faith estimate of what your services may cost under the No Surprises Act. Please contact us for more information.
Do you accept insurance?
We are now in-network with Optum (MGB and United) for our day program (PHP) only.
For other programs we are a private pay and out-of-network provider. This means we will bill your insurance directly if your plan offers out-of-network benefits. We’ll work with you and your insurance provider to determine eligibility and cost if your plan offers out-of-network benefits. If you prefer to seek reimbursement yourself, we can also provide an insurance-friendly “superbill”, which you can submit to your insurance after paying out of pocket.
We’re also working toward being an in-network provider with major insurance carriers in the area.
I don’t have out-of-network benefits, will you do a single case agreement with my insurance plan?
Yes! While we cannot guarantee that your plan will provide one, we are more than happy to consider a single-case agreement with you. Please reach out to our team to discuss further.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
At this time, we do not offer a sliding scale. However, a key part of our mission is to make DBT services more accessible and to remove financial barriers to treatment. If you are in need of services, please reach out to us and let us know if cost is a barrier to care.
Can I pay using my HSA/FSA?
Yes, if your plan allows, we accept HSA/FSA payments.
Do you provide lunch to clients in the Day Program?
We do not provide lunch. However, there is an onsite cafe where clients can purchase lunch. We also have a kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave for those who prefer to bring their own lunch.
